The ASEAN with a combined GDP of $2.57 trillion is a regional grouping that facilitates economic, political, security, military, educational and socio-cultural integration amongst its ten members which are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam with other associated countries such as Republic of Korea, Japan, China, USA and more.

S-NET believes strongly that ASEAN has a powerful opportunity to leapfrog to the forefront of the fast-moving global digital economy. Although ASEAN as a single community lags behind its global peers in the digital economy, it has the potential to enter the top five digital economies in the world by 2025. Moreover, implementation of a radical digital agenda could add $1 trillion to the region’s GDP over the next 10 years. ASEAN telecom operators are investing heavily to accommodate exploding data traffic, implement technology upgrades (for example, 4G/LTE, 5G via satellite backhaul network solutions), and connect communities that do not have access to the Internet.
